Slow Food Sacramento Celebrates Darrell Corti at its Second-Annual Fall Harvest Dinner
SORRY, THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT.
Please join Slow Food Sacramento for its Second-Annual Fall Harvest dinner on Monday, Oct. 13 at Mulvaney’s Building & Loan. This year, Slow Food Sacramento is celebrating fall with a salute to Darrell Corti. Corti has been living the Slow Food lifestyle long before there was a term coined for this philosophy. Corti insists that he is simply a grocer, and indeed, the Sacramento native is one of the city’s greatest grocers who offers unique specialty and international items, but he has bestowed so much more to the food and wine arenas in America, for which he has received many awards and accolades.
For his contribution to the wine world, Corti was inducted this year as a member of the Culinary Institute of America’s Vintners Hall of Fame. For his promotion of Italian food goods, the Italian government named him a cavaliere, the equivalent of a British knighthood. For his accomplishments as a food and beverage professional, he was recognized by his peers as having displayed remarkable talent and achievement and was awarded The James Beard Foundation’s Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America. Recently, when the grocery store location was about to lose its lease, thousands of loyal shoppers, chefs, influential foodies and fans across the country rallied to help keep him in business.
Mulvaney’s lovely garden patio will serve host to a reception with wine and passed appetizers, as well as an opportunity to chat with Darrell Corti. Chef Patrick Mulvaney has created a menu showcasing fresh seasonal ingredients from local farmers, and Mr. Corti has hand-selected wines to pair with each entrée. The celebration begins at 6:30 and is open to the public. The cost is $95 per person, with a discounted price of $85 for Slow Food members; dinner price includes wine, tax and gratuity. Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets. For more information, please contact melinda_beer@yahoo.com. Space is limited.
