March 29 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

slow-food-story-berlin-festival-2013-closeIn cooperation with the Sacramento Food Film Festival (http://www.sacfoodfilmfest.com/), Slow Food Sacramento will host a screening of the new documentary Slow Food Story, on Saturday, March 29 at 5 p.m. at the historic Guild Theater, 2828 35th Street just off Broadway. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. It’s free and open to the public. Donations to the California Food Literacy Center and to Slow Food (to defray screening costs) are welcome.

Just what is Slow Food and how did it start 25 years ago? Why have its accomplishments earned Carlo Petrini a United Nations 2013 Champion of the Earth Award? Here’s what one reviewer said after seeing the Telluride screening….

As someone concerned with environmental issues on a daily basis, the notion we have taken the fun out of our work definitely hit home. It is difficult to face the litany of challenges we face without losing heart – but heart, fun, pleasure – those are exactly what we need if we are to maintain the pace and intensity of our efforts. The Slow Food Story looked back into Carlo’s past, at his friends who helped make it happen, and the relationships that were key to transforming the leftist group into a bridge-building, local food promoting organization. The documentary personalized the movement and the people in a rare and beautiful way and if you missed it at Film Fest, grab the next opportunity to see the film.”

Bring your friends and family; plan to enjoy dinner afterwards in a city that now celebrates local food full throttle.
