Slow Food Sacramento’s first Quarterly Membership Meeting of 2017, Wednesday, March 15, 7:00-8:30 p.m., Colonial Heights Library, 4799 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95820. We have plenty of parking and admission is free.

Come learn about Slow Food’s Biodiversity Foundation projects—The Ark of Taste and the Presidia. The Ark of Taste is a living catalog of delicious and distinctive foods facing extinction. By identifying and championing these foods Slow Food aims to keep them in production and on our plates. What is the history and what can you do to help? How are local chefs, farmers, and gardeners playing their part? Did you know Colonial Heights Library distributes heirloom seeds through its seed bank? Learn, mingle, munch.

Hear from Peter Ruddock, Slow Food California Ark of Taste Committee Chair and Charity Kenyon, Slow Food Sacramento and Slow Food USA International Councilor.

We’ll provide an update on local Slow Food activities, do some Ark of Taste menu-building and tasting, and make new friends. And did we mention prizes?

No cost. We just need your RSVP.

Sacramento Community Grange Movie Night!

Enjoy this month’s free movie screening of “Genetic Roulette” at the California State Grange!

“Genetic Roulette” – The Gamble of Our Lives
Evidence points to genetically engineered foods as a major contributor to rising disease rates in the US population, especially among children. Gastrointestinal disorders, allergies, inflammatory diseases, and infertility are just some of the problems implicated in humans, pets, livestock, and lab animals that eat genetically modified soybeans and corn.  This seminal documentary provides compelling evidence to help explain the deteriorating health of Americans and offers a recipe for protecting ourselves and our future.
